River Project Examples

South Fork Provo River, Wolf Creek Pass, UT

Client: Federal Highways Administration
Description: Complete reconstruction of channel, flood plain and riparian area due a large 1000 foot long slope failure.  BH performed surveys, prepared construction plans, obtained permits, supervised construction and monitoring on this restoration project. 

Piney Gulch, Tennessee Pass, CO

Client: Union Pacific Railroad
Description: Realign the channel, per EPA, to prevent future derailments from discharging various materials into the channel. BH performed surveys, prepared construction plans, obtained permits, supervised construction and performed monitoring on 900 feet of channel relocation, flood plain reconstruction and site revegetation. 

Yampa River, Steamboat Springs, CO

Client: Yampa River Stream Improvement Charitable Trust
Description: Improve trout habitat, decrease pike habitat, and increase riparian areas on a mile reach of State Lands for local fly fishing organization. BH performed surveys, design, obtained permits and provided construction supervision on the first two phases of this enhancement project.

Pine River, Bayfield, CO

Client: Apple Orchard Ranch
Description: Decrease bank erosion and loss of pasture and remove ineffective riprap for a private landowner. BH provided survey, design, permitting and construction supervision services for this small bank stabilization project. 

Florida River, La Plata, CO

Client: Williams Energy-Ecosphere Environmental Services
Description: Protect a large natural gas pipeline that had become exposed due to bank erosion. BH provided survey, design, permitting and construction supervision services for this utility line protection-bank stabilization project. 

Lake Creek, Edwards, CO

Client: Private landowner
Description: Increase fisheries habitat and improve off-channel irrigation diversion system. BH provided survey, design, permitting and construction supervision services for this 1000 foot enhancement project. 

Mancos River, Mancos, CO

Client: Mancos Conservation District
Description: Improve diversion efficiency and fish movement associated with irrigation diversions.  BH provided survey, design, permitting and construction supervision services for two diversions.
